Digestive Disease Consultants has a need for a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care services and consultation to patients with gastroenterology issues. During these duties, the NP/PA evaluates, diagnoses and provides treatment as indicated.

Responsibilities

The NP/PA is accountable for adhering to established policies, standard of care, and standards of practice. The NP/PA will be responsible to patient needs, ensuring patient satisfaction and by fulfilling the following:

*Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patients' medical status including conducting history and physicals; developing treatment plans and following up with the patient through phone calls and providing results.
*Effectively collaborates with the attending physicians.
*Collaborates with the attending physicians and other providers outside of the office to ensure continuity of the patients' care through all health care settings. Promotes effective communication.
*Serves as a resource to physicians, nurses and other personnel.
Patient Examinations and Treatment

Performs and documents complete physical examinations, as needed to evaluate a specific health problem, including history and physicals. Analyzes and interprets data, formulates presenting problems and causes, and establishes care plans for resolutions. Evaluates and treats illnesses according to established practice protocols.

Orders Diagnostic and Therapeutic Modalities

In consultation with the collaborative physicians, orders laboratory, x-ray, and/or other non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures and provides results to the patient. Initiates referrals to appropriate physician or other health care professional of problems that exceed the NP/PA scope of practice.

Prescribes Medication

Prescribes medications as determined under scope of practice with collaborative physicians’ oversight and mid-level practitioner-controlled substance license
