Job Summary/Purpose:

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will work with physicians and team management to assist in direct patient care, case management, practice development, and implementation of policies and procedures focused on patient-centered care models. The selected candidate will serve as a Nurse Practitioner for Pediatric Urology providing care for and coordinating efforts pertaining to the Pediatric Urology patient population as needed. Provide pre & post operative patient care, run clinical session and perform basic clinic procedures.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Assess the health status of pediatric urology patients through performance of history, physical examination and diagnostic testing in the in-patient and out-patient settings.
Outpatient pediatric urology clinics
Perform office based procedures
Possible inpatient consults and patient care
Communicates and advances knowledge and skills related to pediatric urology patients to other health care professionals, including residents in training, medical students and nursing students
Demonstrates accountability for personal and professional competency and growthadvances clinical knowledge through research and publications, participates in continuing education and professional organizations and participates in self and peer evaluation for improved care. Maintains all appropriate licenses and CME requirements
Evaluates patient's response to treatment and documents the patient's progress in the in-patient and out-patient settings to achieve optimal patient outcomes relative to cost & quality
Serve on committees as appropriate.
Under the guidance of established protocols and in collaboration with other health care providers, plans and manages the care of pediatric urology patients.

Physical Requirements:

Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Ability to be qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs. Infrequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces.
