Operating with its core values of excellence, integrity, compassion, and innovation Pioneer Heart Institute is looking for an APRN or PA to help deliver state of the art cardiovascular services to its patients.

The Advanced Practitioner (APP - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner) is responsible for assisting in the care of the Cardiac patient in Inpatient settings. The APP will –
• Provide direct support to the physician, thereby enhancing patient care through increased accessibility and facilitating patient flow.
• Promote and provide customer satisfaction and appropriateness of care for all assigned patients.
• Work with other areas in the practice to assure that procedures and activities are performed efficiently.
• Work closely with physicians and staff to provide a continuum of health care needs.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Function in a hospital, surgical center or as a member of the inpatient care unit.
2. Perform evaluation and diagnosis of cardiovascular patients, assessing new patients and developing care plans to aid in the recovery process.
3. Perform histories, physicals, exams, administer medications and injections, perform procedures, and follow-up care.
4. Coordinate ambulatory and / or hospital services.
5. Provide advance nursing care, educate patients, maintain accurate medical records.
6. Provide patient education regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, medications, procedures and health and wellness.
7. Participate in daily rounds at the hospital.
8. Prescribe medications and controlled substances.
9. Order appropriate lab work and diagnostic testing. Monitor, review and interpret results of tests. Order and/or recommend treatment of patients.
10. Document care given to patients (Super Bills, dictation, night dictation, etc.) Completes hospital discharge summaries and admitting history and physicals.
11. Triage patient calls and provide consultation.
12. Participate in communication with the clinic and public relations programs. Attend office meetings and participate in special projects as assigned.
13. Demonstrate a professional attitude and approach with patients while ensuring confidentiality of patient and practice information.
14. Perform other duties as assigned.
15. Maintain strictest confidentiality.
PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a full range of body motion including handling and lifting of patients, and manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifting patients weighing up to 300 pounds. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours. Requires working with patients who are sick, irritable, upset or confused. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Work may be performed in an Office Practice (Clinic), in a Hospital, or at an Outreach Clinic or Hospital.
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school for Advanced Practice Nursing (APRN) or Physician’s Assistant (PA) with current Nebraska licensure. Two years of APP nursing experience in Cardiovascular services. Strong organizational and communication skills with the flexibility to work on multiple tasks at one time. Able to communicate with patients and staff.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Two years of experience desired in a cardiology setting.
WORK SCHEDULE :
This position is for a night shift with varying evening and weekend hours based on the needs of the providers.
