HIV outpatient services are conducted at McDowell Healthcare Center, founded in 1989 as an HIV specialty clinic within the Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS). MIHS is a county-wide network for outpatient Federally Qualified Healthcare Centers (FQHCs), qualifying providers to participate in federally funded loan repayment programs. It is the largest provider of comprehensive and coordinated HIV-related healthcare services in Maricopa County. Its primary medical care, is tailored to meet the unique needs of adults living with HIV and Hepatitis C. The clinic employs full-time providers, all who are AAHIVM certified and possess extensive experience with HIV care. Other on sight services include comprehensive laboratory testing, behavioral health services with full-time counseling and psychiatry, full service dental care, a co-located HIV specialty pharmacy and the Phoenix area’s AIDS Service Organization, the Southwest Center for HIV & AIDS.
