The Villages Health and our world class Neurologyt division are seeking a full-time Inpatient Physician Assistant to join a large and growing Endocrinology practice. Our newest clinician will work alongside a team of 3 endocrinologists, 1 experienced nurse practitioner, and a dedicated team of dieticians and certified diabetes educators to provide our patients the best endocrine and diabetes care. Responsibilities:

Must have interest in assisting with the treatment of patient with chronic pain. Provider will work under supervision of one board certified pain management specialist. The candidate should possess the following qualities and skills: good bedside manner, an empathetic and cooperative disposition, good clinical skills and fund of knowledge. Job duties will include:

Assessment of patients with different types of pain by performing interviews, physical examination and documentation of patients' services on the electronic medical record.
Performs trigger point injections, Botox injections, bursa and joint injections (knees and shoulders) if deemed appropriate by the attending physician.
Order appropriate necessary lab work, imaging studies and consultations to help with the diagnosis and treatment of patient with the attending physician as indicated.
Assists the attending staff in the collection of data to determine the effectiveness of the treatment offered at the pain management clinic in order to improve the quality of care.
Discusses and explains to patients, results of diagnostic tests ordered and the goals of the treatment plan.
Refills non controlled pain medications and provides continuity of care. Refills controlled pain medications on a limited basis and in compliance with Federal and Florida law and client policies.
Earns CME credits related to pain management at least once a year and fulfills the requirements of the PA licensure body.
Assist the attending physician in educating the patients about different pain treatment options.
Perform an appropriate history and physical examination in preparation for scheduling the patient for an interventional pain treatment as determined by the attending physician.
Assists the attending physician and nursing staff in the follow up of intrathecal pump patients seen for refills of the pump.
Assists the attending physician to prepare the patient in the procedure area
Treating and managing new/ existing chronic pain patients with specific treatment plans
Establishing positive rapport with patients and encouraging healthy habits depending on current health status
Perform in depth physical examinations and wound checks, administer in-office injections under ultrasound, remove post-op sutures and staples as needed.
Prepare, modify, update and maintain patient records via EHR/EMR program
Evaluate and order interventional procedures based on patient need
Provide answers/ recommendations to questions recorded in EMR (from patients, medical professionals, insurances, etc)
Assists the attending physician to incorporate physiatry, psychiatry/psychology, orthopedic and addiction disciplines in the treatment plan of the chronic pain patient.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with client policies and procedures, including infection control.
Maintains a respectful and professional relationship with the clinical and administrative staff in order to foster a collaborative environment to improve the quality of the care provided to the patients.
Maintains PA certification through the National Commission of Physician Assistants.
Physician Assistant (PA-C) with an orthopedic/ Physical Med and Rehab or Pain management background will be preferred.
Requirements/Preference:

Inpatient and clinic practice experience
Experience with diabetes and endocrine disorders
American Diabetes Association Certified Diabetes Educator or other equivalent certification
Experience with electronic medical record
Five or more years as a physician assistant
Must be board-certified
Education:

Master's (Required)
License:

Florida medical license (Preferred)

Full Time
Monday-Friday; hours may vary between 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
