Collins Medical Associates is growing and looking to add a Physician Assistant for a Primary Care opportunity.

Job Summary:

Provides primary care to patients in accordance with Physician Assistant Protocol and Physician Assistant Practice Act.

Provides patient education and prescribes patient's care intervention according to guideline of related and/or contracted organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

A) Completes health/medical history and performs physical assessment on patients in accordance with the presenting chief complaint and established protocol.

B) Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic intervention.

C) Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patient in accordance with practice protocol.

D) Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedure as warranted in accordance with the established protocol.

E) Synthesizes data to determine preliminary assessment and therapeutic plan utilizing principles of prevention and health promotion.

F) Administers treatments, medical intervention and injections in accordance with established protocols.

G) Educates and advises patients or significant others regarding health and illness prevention including referral to community resources to meet patient and family needs.

H) Instructs patients and family, regarding their plan of treatment and expected outcomes as well as follow-up appointments as indicated by the patient's condition.

I) Ensure that documentation is comprehensive and written in the established format of the practice.

J) Attends required meeting and participate in committees as requested.

K) Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.

L) Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

A) Experience: One year experience in and Urgent Care Setting

B) Education: Graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Program.

C) License, Certification and Registration: Current license in the State of Connecticut

Relationship/Supervision

A) REPORTS TO: Physician/Supervisor

B) Supervises: Independent

C) Leads/Guides: clinical site staff

Working Conditions:

A) UNIFORM/DRESS REQUIREMENTS: Medical Attire (i.e. scrubs/lab coat)

B) PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing for prolonged periods of time. Occasional walking and sitting. Must be able to pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers; express ideas by means of the spoken word; perceive the nature of sounds by the ear; lif, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 20lbs; occasional lifting, pushing, puling or carrying of objects weighing up to 50lbs; and, ability to correct vision to 20/20.

C) ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Inside environment, protected form weather but not necessarily temperature changes.

D) PERSONAL TRAITS, QUALITIES AND APTITUDES: Ability to effectively communicate with individuals from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds.
