Description

Stamford Health has an immediate need for a Physician Assistant to work in Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at Stamford Hospital. This is a full-time position 1.0 FTE (37 1/2 hours per week) primarily in the in-patient setting. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Cardio-thoracic surgery is required.
Responsibilities include:
• Take medical histories
• Perform physical examinations
• Utilize diagnostic techniques appropriately
• Perform technical, surgical and therapeutic procedures under supervision
• Order tests and interpret data; develop treatment plans with physician; administer treatments and medications; document all aspects of care.
• When necessary, initiate emergency medical treatment without supervision.
• Provide 24-hour clinical management of post operative cardiac and thoracic surgery patients in the ICU setting
• Assist in the OR
• Perform endoscopic saphenous vein harvest

Education, License and Requirements:
•Connecticut State Licensed Physician Assistant and Board Certification are required
•Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
•Proficiency in all procedures, techniques and skills approved in the delineation of privileges.
