Stamford Health has an immediate need for a Physician Assistant to work in Surgical Subspecialties (Urology, Neurosurgery, and ENT) at Stamford Hospital and the hospital’s Ambulatory Surgery Center. This is a full-time position 1.0 FTE (37.5 hours per week). A minimum of 2 years’ experience in surgery is strongly recommended.

Stamford Hospital is a dynamic, non-profit, community, teaching hospital located in beautiful Stamford, Connecticut (30 minutes north of New York City). The teaching affiliations are with the renowned Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Sacred Heart University PA Program.
Responsibilities include:
• First assist in the OR, including robotic cases.
• Perform admission history and physicals, consults, and daily notes.
• Utilize diagnostic techniques appropriately
• Ability to assess patient’s condition
• Perform technical, surgical and therapeutic procedures under supervision
• Order tests and interpret data; develop treatment plans with physician; administer treatments and medications; document all aspects of care.
• When necessary, initiate emergency medical treatment without supervision.
• Conduct pre- and post-op checks. Complete accurate and appropriate post-op orders within 30 minutes of the conclusion of surgery.
• Round on assigned units.
• Notify the attending physician of all significant patient problems. Collaborates with attending and nursing staff to solve problems. Provides follow-up on matters requiring additional attention without being prompted.
• Complete all assigned patient rounds prior to end of the shift. Signs out all assigned patients to on-call PA prior to the end of the shift.
Education, License and Requirements:
•Connecticut State Licensed Physician Assistant and Board Certification are required
•Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ACLS)
•Proficiency in all procedures, techniques and skills approved in the delineation of privileges.
